Zambia vs defending champions Morocco

Zambia made an impressive start to their TotalEnergies CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 campaign with a 3-1 victory over Libya in the tournament’s opening match in Rabat on Monday.

Chipolopolo capitalised on their chances to take all three points in a closely contested Group A encounter, with Patrick Mwila scoring twice.

Zambia struck early, with Royd Chishala opening the scoring in the second minute before Mwila doubled the lead four minutes later to give his side a commanding start.

Mwila struck again in the 23rd minute to complete his brace and put Zambia three goals ahead immediately after the restart.

Libya pushed for a way back and were rewarded in the final minute when Mohammed Abu Raas scored in the 40th minute, but the late goal was not enough to spark a comeback.

The result gives Zambia an important early advantage in Group A as they target a semi-final place, while Libya will look to respond in their next outing.

Zambia face hosts and defending champions Morocco on Wednesday 14 October, before closing their group campaign against Algeria on Friday 16 October.

Libya will look to bounce back against Algeria on Wednesday before facing Morocco in their final group match on Friday.
