Sainsburys, UK’s second largest supermarket chain to stock new African products

By Olayiwola Balogun – Wanis Foods has announced that Sainsbury’s, UK’s second largest supermarket, has agreed to stock a number of iconic African Caribbean products made in Ghana, Nigeria, Trinidad and Jamaica starting from 16th March 2022.

Paul Harrison, Head of Community at Wanis Foods said, “Some of these products will be listed in over 241 stores nationwide and so will bring these brands to many more consumers across the length and breadth of the United Kingdom.”

The launch of the new product line will take place at the Sainsbury Stores, Williamson Rd, Finsbury Park, London N4 1UJ at 10am.

Diplomats and celebrities from diverse communities in Britain will grace the occasion. The Mayor of Haringey will kick start the event with a meet and greet at 09:30am.

This is very exciting, as Ambassadors and Ministers of Trade from Ghana, Nigeria, Jamaica and Trinidad will be attending.

In line with Ghana’s 65th Independence, Jamaica & Trinidad and Tobago 60th Independence, and Nigeria celebrating Commonwealth week and Commonwealth Games, there will be so much to celebrate, so we would like for you to join us on the 16th March at 10am at the Sainsburys Mega store, for the official celebrations of the launch of Sainsbury’s new and much increased range of African Caribbean products. This is just the beginning of many more to follow.
