A 48-year-old market seller is fighting for her life after a teenage employee slashed her several times in a failed rape attempt.

The 17-year-old attacker, a porter who often carries oranges from the bush to the market for the victim, has reportedly gone on the run.

The victim had gone to Abankro near Ejisu in the Ashanti Region with the teenager when the incident occurred. In the ensuing struggle, he slashed the woman in the leg, on the forehead and in the stomach.

In pain, the woman was said to have crawled from the bush to the nearby road where she was helped by a Good Samaritan who took her to Ejisu Government Hospital.
