A pair of running shoes signed by six-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt have been stolen from an industrial building in Croydon.

The orange Puma shoes, which Bolt wore during the 2009 World Championships where he won his first world championship gold, were on stolen during a robbery where the shoes were on display. According to London 21 hey had bee won at a Sotheby auction in 2012, which is known for its historic art sales.

The shoes had been framed along side a photo of Bolt and are thought to be worth around £20,000

On hearing the news about his stolen artefacts, bolt tweeted his 3.3 million followers urging the thief to return them: “I know u love me..but please why u had to go stealing that signed Usain Bolt spikes in Croydon, England..I know u going to return it. Right?”

“All you had to do was just ask me for one..No need to go stealing the ppl things..Come on now”.

The runner later stated that he will send another pair of signed shoes to London to replace the ones that have been stolen:  “Only natural I sign sum spikes after one of my overly excited fan stole that one..FedEx straight to London later.”

No arrests have been made and the police are appealing for witnesses.
