A 16 year old boy has been charged on suspicion of murdering another teenager in Brixton last Sunday and is due to appear at Camberwell Magistrates Court on Wednesday 7th May.

17 year old student Alim Uddin, was stabbed to death while collecting a second hand bike from a boy he went to school with. It is thought that Alim had initially paid £90 for the bicycle however the owner demanded an extra £50. They agreed to meet again and this time Alim took two of his friends, who waited in a nearby shop, with him.

It is believed that Alim, who was a grade A student and had been studying for his A-Levels and hoping to go to University, was dragged to the 8th floor of a block of flats by a gang of boys where he was beaten and stabbed 7 times in the arms, legs and chest.  His friends, who had grown worried as he had not been answering his phone, arrived on the scene where Alim was being attended to by paramedic, who a resident of the estate had called. Before the ambulance arrived she had tried revive him.

He was taken to hospital where he later died with parents, who are restaurant owners, by his side.

His family describe him as a bright, “well mannered” boy who was “always helping others” and who would have never gone to the estate on his own accord.  He had wanted to become a police officer, after he graduated from university.

His father recalled that his son had been robbed on previous occasion, during which him and his family were offered little support: “He had his phone stolen [and] was beaten. Police are doing everything they can for the investigation into his death, but before, when he was hurt, they just sent a [victim support] letter.”

Alim’s mother stated that something must be done about these unprecedented murders “Our children are being killed and nothing is being done. It happens in broad daylight, every day they are being attacked. They are dying like dogs. It’s making our lives a living hell.”

Alim is the first of two teenage boys to be senselessly stabbed to death this week, the second of whom was 18 year Jamil Palmer who was chased and stabbed to death in crane park as he and friend walked through a nature reserve on Tuesday afternoon.
