It’s a reality that we have reported on and will continue to do so – black children are disproportionately over-represented in our care system.

But as we move into a ‘new normal’ following the lockdown and as we move forward after the tragic death of George Floyd and the uprising of the Black Lives Matter movement, we want to take a pulse on the nation and understand where our communities sit on the important issue of adoption.

Do the health and economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic act as a deterrent for considering adoption or has the Black Lives Matter movement made you more likely to consider this as a viable option for you?

All children waiting for adoption are likely to experience delay and instability but children from black and minority ethnic backgrounds also have to confront the issue of identity – their ethnicity, their culture and maybe their language.

So, with that in mind, we invite you to share your views by taking this very short five minute survey, the results of which will be revealed to our readership in September and which will help us all to better understand why or indeed why not, our communities adopt.
