By Milton Tella – Leading brands in the rice, food and drinks industry gathered at the East London Headquarters of Wanis, UK’s leading World wholesaler to celebrate the National Rice Week 2024 and Trade Week from Monday, 9th – 15th September.
To flag off the event, were some of the directors of Wanis International Foods led by Kapil Wadhwani, Cllr. Sharon Waldron, Her Worshipful the Mayor of Waltham Forest and Actress Ann Mitchell of Easterners Television series.
Media Agency Directors, Brand Account Managers and representatives of USA Rice, Tilda Rice, Goya Foods, and Supermalt Drinks were all present to celebrate the occasion.
The carnival-like event provided the opportunity for guests and customers of Wanis to enjoy the various international varieties and how best to cook the different grains ranging from basmati, long grain, brown rice etc.
Paul Harrison, Head of Community Relations at Wanis said, “Rice is one of the most easy and convenient meals to cook. A great opportunity get deals on top food brands like TS USA Rice, Tilda Rice, Goya Foods and sample international treats.”
Mr Harrison ensured deliciously cooked rice meals by Waakye Joint were available and inexhaustible. All attendees tasted delicious international rice dishes made using Tropical Sun Easy Cook USA Rice, Ghanaian Rice and Beans dishes, Pulao (Indian style spiced rice and vegetable dish) and Rice ‘n’ Peas (Jamaican style rice and beans by Sweet 2 De Belly. USA Rice sponsored all the rice meal dishes served. As Supermalt introduces the new Strawberry Twist.
George Phillips, the Commercial Director at Wanis, took Cllr. Sharon Waldron, the Mayor of Waltham Forest, her consort and Young Mayor of Waltham Forest on a tour of Wanis warehouse.
