Will.i.am has said he wants to see Madonna replacing Kylie Minogue on The Voice UK, while admitting he was hoping that rumours of Kylie’s exit were just “vapour press” and “not real”.
Unfortunately we’ve got bad news for Will, as Kylie herself confirmed she was leaving last week in the following message:
“Hi Lovers, thanks to all of you for your incredible support throughout this past season of The Voice UK,” Kylie said in a statement. “I’m sad to say that, due to the timing of my European tour, I won’t be back for season four. I absolutely loved my time on the show, and I’ll miss all of the incredible people who were a part of my experience.
“I hope to see you all on my Kiss Me Once Tour, and wish continued success to everyone at The Voice!”
Speaking about the, then, unconfirmed reports, Will said: “She’s amazing. I had fun, I hope it’s just vapour press and it’s not real.” But he went on to suggest that Madonna or Bono could be possible replacements.
Meanwhile, Will revealed he wanted to see a global version of The Voice that would see winners from across the world compete. Currently coaching alongside Kylie on The Voice Australia, Will explained: “Watching The Voice US and being part of the show in the UK, the singers that are here [Australia] are good, if not better.
“I would like to see The Voice Australia compete with the best in the UK – like a super final.”
