USA Rice Celebrating National Rice Week

By Milton Tella – The week commencing 18th September 2023 was set aside to celebrate this year’s National Rice Week. 

 To commemorate the event, Wednesday 20 September 2023 was set aside at the Wanis International Foods, Golden House London for the British diverse community to try the various delicious international rice dishes made using Tropical Sun Easy Cook USA Rice.

The following mouthwatering and delicious foods were available for invited guests to taste and enjoy: Waakye (Ghanaian rice and bean dish by Waakye Joint, Jollof Rice (West African style tomato spiced rice) by Adun Foods, Pulao (Indian style spiced rice and vegetable dish by Reesa London & Punjabi Lounge and Rice ‘N’ Peas (Jamaica style rice and beans dish) by Sweet 2 De Belly.

The significance of Rice to the tradition of the diverse British communities in attendance was not lost as dignitaries from all walks of life attended the week-long celebration. 

Crystelle Pereira of the Great British Bake Off made the event memorable and exciting by celebrating the launch of her new book ‘Flavour Kitchen’. 

Wanis Foods customers were able to receive a signed copy of ‘Flavour Kitchen’ with every purchase of Tropical Sun Foods USA Rice – all made possible by USA Rice in the UK.

Hyacinth Garnett, Tilda Rice, Assistant Brand Manager said, “Tilda’s vibrant campaign in London celebrates West African cuisine with jollof rice tastings, special offers, drumming festivities, and heartfelt wishes for a happy Nigerian Independence Day!” 

 Paul Harrison, Tropical Sun Community Ambassador said, “Our love and thanks to Crystelle, the USA Rice Association, our customers and staff for coming together during the National Rice Week.”

  VIP guests in attendance included two time Mayor of Enfield, Councillor Kate Anolue,  Councillor Kam Adams, Chief Whip of London Borough of Hackney, Nollywood UK actress Judy Akuta and Prince Mike Abiola CEO of African Voice Newspaper UK.
