Mr Simon Day has been appointed British High Commissioner to the Gabonese Republic in succession to Ms Jo McPhail, who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Day will take up his appointment during June 2024.
Simon was FCO Desk officer in 2008 to 2010. He served as France, L’École Nationale d’Administration in 2010 to 2013, UK Mission to the United Nations, 2nd Secretary, in 2014, Counsellor in Rome.
He was Addis Ababa Counsellor in 2015. Behavioural Insights Team, Senior Advisor 2015 to 2017. Co-founder, Apptivism Govtech 2017 to 2019.
Simon became FCO, Head, AI Projects 2019 to 2020. Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, Visiting Fellow in 2021. FCDO, Head, China Strategic Analysis 2022 to 2024.
