The Nigeria High Commission in the United Kingdom held a send off party in honour of four outgoing immigration attachés at the Tafida Hall of the diplomatic Mission House on Northumberland Avenue, central London on Friday, 18th December 2020,
The immigration section organised a befitting ceremony to celebrate its outgoing attachés in persons of: Mrs. Mary Ushie (CIS) attaché 1, Mr. Muhammad Inuwa Kaila (ACI) attaché II, Mr. Sulaiman Aliyu (ACI) attaché III and Mr. Adeyemi Taiwo Hundeyin.
Mr. Amir Bagwanje who compered the ceremony introduced the outgoing officers to the guests. The four officers completed their dedicated tour of duty and achieved tremendous success during their three years service at the Nigeria High Commission London.
Mr Bagwanje commended the officers for their hard work and dedication, working tirelessly to clear the passport backlog they met within the shortest time possible. They worked overtime, well into midnight some days including weekends just so that Nigerians can get their passports in good time.
His Excellency, the Acting High Commissioner, Ambassador Ahmed Sule congratulated the officers for their selfless contributions to the Nigerian community in the UK, with regards to passport services and other consular matters even at a challenging time of COVID-19 uncertainties. He thanked them for their dedication to work and charge the incoming attaches headed, by Mr. Bello Iluh Kibiya to emulate their good works in order to keep the flag flying.
The Ag. High Commissioner presented gifts on behalf of the Immigration section to Mrs Ushie and Mr. Kaila, while the Head of Immigration gave Mr. Aliyu and Mr. Hundeyin their gifts.
The Head of Immigration, Ambassador Ibrahim Zanna appreciated the outgoing officers for making sure that Nigerians get their travel documents speedily. He particularly applauded them for the sacrifices they made during the first COVID-19 lockdown to ensure that Nigerians who were stranded got their travel documents and special flights arrangement to evacuate them home.
Mrs Mary Ushie, the outgoing attaché 1, thanked her colleagues and other staff for the support given to her during her tenure. She also appealed to the staff to give maximum cooperation to the new attachés. She ended her speech by seeking for forgiveness wherever she must have erred as human.
The new attaché 1, Mr. Bello Iluh, thanked the outgoing attachés and solicited for cooperation from staff. He promised to continue to render quick and efficient passport and visa services to our people in the UK.
Other Ministers and Heads of section such Mr. Oludare Folowosele and Mr. Basil Nwokolo expressed satisfaction with the wonderful performances of the outgoing attachés. They prayed to God to guide them in their future national assignments. Other members of staff expressed their goodwill messages and wished them safe trip home.
