A-list film stars dressed up in their best to meet their expectant fans who were equally prepared in their shimmers to welcome their film idols. It was indeed a special evening of roll call of celebrities in stylish outfits.
The crème de la crème from the diverse UK communities walked the red carpet at the prestigious 23rd African Film Awards 2019, held on Saturday 2nd November at the Olympic City Stratford, London. The evening most dazzling looks will surely continue to set the tone for styles for the fashion conscious.
Chief (Mrs) Modupeola Oguntade, the amiable wife of the Nigeria High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, His Excellency, Justice (Rtd) George Adesola Oguntade CFR, CON, who stunned the gathering, turned up in her shimmering and glittering contemporary, gold dress, with a matching head wrap and regal shoulder sash, to lead the pack of stylish and elegantly dressed ladies who made the evening the most colourful event of the year.
The men were not left out of the stylish fashion. Most turned out in their tuxedos, accompanied by their spouses or partners in classy evening wears. Some turned out in their rich, traditional outfits, befitting the glamourous occasion. Royals were not left out as they too graced the occasion with their colourful traditional wear with rich coral beads hanging down their royal necks. Those who came individually or in groups, consciously rummaged through their wardrobes to step out gorgeously for this glamourous occasion.
The ambiance of the night provided the opportunity for husbands to renew their vows to their wives and lovers to propose to their finances. Prince Mike Abiola, founder of the African Film Awards, stood out in his modern, complete traditional navy blue trimmed with gold outfit, which was well complemented by his adorable wife, Princess Golda who wore a contemporary navy blue sequenced ball-gown, navy blue and gold head wrap with a matching royal shoulder sash. They both lit up the evening alongside other glamourously dressed guests. The African Film Awards, also known as the Afro Hollywood Awards, has established itself as the leading red carpet fashion show making event, making bold statements as the most prestigious and pioneering film awards ceremony in the UK since its inception in 1996.
