Mr David Belgrove OBE has been appointed British High Commissioner to the Republic of The Gambia in succession to Ms Sharon Wardle who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Belgrove will take up his appointment during August 2020.
David served in Ottawa, as First Secretary, Head of Media and Public Affairs 2000 to 2002. He was FCO, Head of Section and Security Sector Reform Manager, Caribbean Team from 2002 to 2004, FCO, Team Leader Peacekeeping and Peace building Section, Conflict Issues Group from 2004 to 2007. Head of Counter Narcotics Team, Kabul from 2007 to 2009, FCO, Deputy Head of Afghan Interdepartmental Drugs Unit from 2009 to 2010.
He was Chargé d’Affaires in Monrovia from 2010 to 2012, Deputy Head of Mission in Khartoum from 2012 to 2015.
David Belgrove OBE served as Her Majesty’s Ambassador in Monrovia from 2015 until his recent appointment. He is married to Mette Ofstad with two children.
