Mr David Concar has been appointed British High Commissioner to the United Republic of Tanzania in succession to Ms Sarah Cooke who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Concar will take up his appointment during August 2020.
David was Deputy Editor, New Scientist magazine from 1996 to 2004. He Joined FCO in 2004 and was First Secretary, Science and Innovation 2004 to 2006. Counsellor – Science and Innovation in Beijing 2006 to 2008, Counsellor – Climate Change and Energy 2009 to 2010, Counsellor – Prosperity 2011 to 2012.
He returned to FCO as Head, Climate Change and Energy Department in 2012 to 2014 and became Head, International Organisations Department and Commonwealth Envoy 2014 to 2016.
David was Her Majesty’s Ambassador in Mogadishu from 2016 to 2019. He was Director, Protocol at the FCO in 2020 before his appointment.
David William Concar is married to Caroline Virginia North and blessed with three children.
