Two men have been jailed for a total of 18 years for firearms offences.
Shaquille McNamee and Trey Foster both aged 20 and both from Lambeth were found guilty for one count of possession with intent to endanger life and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon on November 6th 2014, and were jailed for 9 years each.
In July 2013, as part of a Trident Crime Gang Command operation in Brixton, McNamee and Foster were seen in Loughborough Park, and were then approached by plainclothes police officers. They then split, and Foster pulled out a lock knife, injuring one of the officers.
McNamee was later arrested and a gun which he left in a nearby area in plastic bag wrapped in cloth, was found.
Detective Inspector Paul Dorey, Trident Gang Crime Command, said: “The arrest and conviction of McNamee and Foster demonstrates Trident’s continued commitment to target dangerous offenders concerned in gangs, firearm criminality and serious youth violence.
“This successful prosecution also highlights the dangers posed to unarmed police officers and their bravery in confronting armed criminals who pose a high risk to the local community.
“I hope that the sentence given to McNamee and Foster will send a clear message to those concerned in gang crime that Trident does everything in its power to protect local communities from their violence and bring them before the courts to receive justice.”
