In form Algeria winger Riyad Mahrez has ruled out a move from Leicester City during the January transfer window.
The 24-year-old, who helped the Foxes get back at the top of the Premier League table with his 11th goal of the season during their 2-1 win over Chelsea at King Power Stadium on Monday, insisted he will remain at the club until the end of the campaign.
“The best for me would be to stay. I am not going to leave in January, it won’t be good for my team if I leave,” Mahrez told French radio RMC.
“If they lose a player like me, Vardy or Kanté, it can penalise the team. I prefer to continue until the end of the season.”
Table leaders Leicester have been the biggest surprise so far this season in the Premier League, which does not however prevent the Algeria international from keeping his feet on the ground.
“We are on top, but it doesn’t mean anything. The big guys will wake up at some point,” Mahrez insisted.
“We won’t be champions! We don’t have broad enough shoulders. The other squads have more depth. They will take over at some point.”
