Lemar and Babatunde Baiyewu have been confirmed as amongst the acts to perform at the Mouth of the Tyne Festival in July.
The four-day festival, which will take place in the stunning setting of Tynemouth Priory and Castle, is also scheduled to feature such pop icons as Brian Ferry and Lulu.
North Tyneside Elected Mayor, Norma Redfearn said: “The Mouth of the Tyne’s Sunday concert is always very popular with groups of friends and families, getting together to enjoy the fantastic setting of the Priory and listen to some familiar songs.
Multi-award winning R n B singer Lemar is best known for hits including Dance (With U), If There’s Any Justice and 50/50. The north Londoner, whose parents are Nigerian, launched his career after finishing third in the first series of BBC TV’s Fame Academy.
Babatunde Baiyewu, who also uses a mononym, Tunde, in his professional guise, is probably better known as the vocal half of successful pop duo Lighthouse Family. Teaming up with Paul Tucker, who he got to know while they were both working behind a bar while at university in Northumbria, London-born and Nigeria-raised Tunde’s baritone enhanced three studio albums and eight Top 20 singles over an eight year period before the pair split to pursue other projects in 2003.
The Mouth of the Tyne Festival will run from Thursday 7th July to Sunday 10th July. Check visitnorthtyneside.com for details of who is appearing when.
