Lawmaker urges FERMA to rehabilitate road

FERMA has been urged by the House of representatives to give urgent attention to the Idah/Ajaka, Ugwolawo, Ejule, Ogidibeje (Agbeji/Ayangba) junction road, in a motion by the Honourable member representing Idah/Igalamela/Ibaji/Ofu at the National Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Makoji Egwu titled `Urgent need for rehabilitation/dualisation of Idah/Ajaka junction road’ said the road dates back to the colonial era but was last
reconstructed in the 1970s.

He notes that the road has deteriorated so severely despite many attempts by the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to patch it up and palliative steps taken by Kogi state government.

The road he said serves and traverses communities with abundant cashew nut plantations, the largest in sub-saharan Africa, sesame seeds, talc etc. Egwu, through the House mandated the committee on Works to liaise with the
Federal ministry of works, power and housing for the execution of the road.
