Jalloh, Sierra Leonean Chevening scholar 2015/16 shares his experience with African Voice during a reception hosted by UK Minister for Africa, James Duddridge MP at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) on 20th April.

Muhammed Jalloh, Sierra Leonean Chevening scholar studying MSc Electronic and Computer Engineering at the University of Birmingham said, This scholarship is really a life changing opportunity for me. I will encourage every youth to take advantage of it. l was encouraged by a friend, l never wanted to apply initially because of the hard time l faced during my undergraduate programme.
As the best student in my department l was unable to secure a scholarship from my government so l was totally disillusioned. So when l heard of the Chevening scholarship l never wanted to apply believing that it is not genuine. I eventually applied a day before the deadline and realised that it was a selection based on competence. I very much appreciate the opportunity given to me. I will be going back to give back what l have learnt. With the situation back home, my country needs internet connectivity and access to communication. I hope to return home and contribute in the field of academia and professionalism.
