Japanese ambassador to Nigeria, Sadanobu Kusaoke said 51 Nigerians have so far been granted scholarship for master’s degree program in various Japanese universities.
The Japanese envoy made this known at the sent forth programme organized by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JAICA), for the successful candidates.
According to him the gesture is an initiative of JAICA with a view to assisting Nigerian youths achieve their aspiration in life.
He congratulated the students for successfully going through the rigour of the selection process which he described as “very transparent”
“The objective is to offer Nigerian students an opportunity to study at their master’s level in various Japanese universities” he said.
He then urged them to be worthy ambassadors of Nigerians and respect Japanese law.
In a related development, Prof. Mohammed Dauda, President Nigeria-Japan Alumni Association (NAIJAA), who thanked the Japanese government for the initiative, explained that the program would enhance the relationship between the two countries.
Dauda, who was represented by Mr Asemota Joseph, the Secretary General of NAIJAA, added that the initiative would put the two nations on effective international relationships.
Also Raji Sherriff, one of the beneficiaries and also a representative of the students, expressed appreciation to the Japanese government.
Sheriff added that, “It was a great opportunity for them to be selected among others to participate in JICA’s sponsored program.
“We are committed and determined to give our best in ensuring that the objective of this program is maximally actualized.
