Mariah Carey’s split from husband Nick Cannon is the world’s worst kept secret, but the 45-year-old could have been signalling her intent to go the whole way when, while performing in Tokyo this weekend, she changed lines in Billie Holiday’s classic song “Don’t Explain” from: “And I know you cheat, Right or wrong, don’t matter” to the altogether more uncompromising: “I know you cheated, motherf–ker”
Meanwhile, a source has told E! News that Carey’s plans to permanently split from Cannon are still on course. “She has made up her mind,” the insider said exclusively, “She is definitely divorcing him.”
Last month, another source told E! that the couple, who married in 2008, were headed for a split. “Mariah has started the divorce process. She’s getting all her ducks in a row,” the source said.
Mariah and Nick, who is twelve years her junior, have also been spending a lot of time apart. Cannon confirmed last month that there was “trouble in paradise”, while Carey spent the past few weeks in Atlanta with their twins Monroe and Moroccan as she prepared for her world tour. “Mariah’s been looking at houses. She may want to spend time in Atlanta after the tour. She’s not too sure about anything right now, but she has been seeing houses,” the source revealed. “She’s good though. She’s doing better than people think.” Cannon denies cheating on his wife.
As for Mariah’s Elusive Chanteuse tour, she’s headed to South Korea this week before heading to multiple cities in China. She’ll then hit several other countries in Asia before heading to Australia and New Zealand.
