Start a six figure business, particularly if you are an undergraduate or a young graduate. (Understanding the hidden power of your mobile phone and relationship between informatics, education, employment and entrepreneurship leads to success in a period of turbulence)

By Professor Chris Imafidon – Is it really possible for you to get a top five-figure job, or successfully start a six-figure business in the midst of a pandemic thanks to the hidden power of mobile informatics, or cell-phone? In every cloud, there are silver lining of untold opportunities thanks to the #GeniusFormula. With the #GeniusJobFormula, the unemployed undergraduate or graduate can now be a job magnet instead of getting frustrated after many failed applications or endless CV or resume submissions without any positive results.

It is the time of the year again for celebrations of student graduations and completion of various courses of study/degree programmes. In normal times, or pre-covid era, companies and recruiters would have picked up graduates through campus job fairs, and special events. However in pandemic times, students have had online lectures zoomed into their isolated rooms. Employment talks and any physical interaction with the big corporations, organisations and institutions vanished. The back log of unemployed graduates from last summer is compounding the situation for every debt-laden graduands

CV versus Cell Phone

With uncertain government policies, the pandemic and economic situation, most graduates cannot take the usual route to jobs, or employment and the popular press states it’s difficult to start a business. So a new formula (bit.ly/3jnhDZu) has emerged to secure top jobs in the midst of a financial crisis or Pandemic.

Printing copies of a very good CV, or an excellent resume in an envelope can no longer get them any job in these difficult times. Graduating from the best-rated college or university cannot guarantee a job any longer. New situation requires a new strategy, which was successfully implemented by www.ExcellenceinEducation.org.uk over the last two summers with record-breaking results. The Mobile informatics and reorientation has redefined the strange landscape of working from home and securing multiple offers from the phone. We will be outlining the PROVEN strategy implemented by our protégés via new tools. Over 15,000 youths worldwide have now tapped into a version of this formula.

Sections of the popular press tend to paint a very bleak picture of the pandemic and the associated loss of lives and livelihood but in this dark cloud, there is a silver lining for you if you can understand the hidden LINK between informatics, education, employment and entrepreneurship. This skill can be learnt and it is not genetic and success achievable at turbulent times.

EDUCATION

The world went through the Spanish pandemic in 1918 and by 1919 light shone from the darkest tunnel of it, and the world recovered and flourished. In May last year at our series of meeting in London, multiple bestselling financial education guru, Dr Robert Kiyosaki, re-echoed the following:

“I am concerned that too many people are focused too much on money and not on their greatest wealth, which is their education. If people are prepared to be flexible, keep an open mind and learn, they will grow richer and richer through the changes. If they think money will solve the problems, I am afraid those people will have a rough ride.” – Robert Kiyosaki

Our greatest WEALTH is education in a high technology era. This must not be confused with what happens within the four walls of a classroom. That is called schooling. The outcome of schooling is certification but the outcome of education is wealth. Schools can be obsessed with inflexible curriculum and teacher-led activity instead of individual learners’ needs or talent. So in turbulent times as experienced by our grandparents in the early 1918 with the “Spanish flu”, what saved the day were flexibility and adaptability after re-learning the new dynamics.

This re-learning or education rapidly opened up new employment opportunities and re-defined the boundaries of entrepreneurial activities. South Africa’s ex-President Nelson Mandela puts it differently “Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world”.

According to Official UK government statistics, over 50% of businesses experienced a decrease in turnover, with the accommodation and food service activities industry having the highest percentage experiencing a decrease, at 79%. Before the pandemic, the government expected to borrow around £55bn this financial year. Seven months in, the government has already borrowed £215bn, and the total is expected to hit £394bn this year, the highest level seen in peacetime.

These government figures represent a new vista to learn about the new situation created by both the market and the response of the government to it. The businesses that are adversely affected can quickly study their current clients and note their new needs, demands and aspirations. Once that is established, and researched, one can then reach out to current partners, affiliates and pivot or develop new goods and services. From the UK government information, the accommodation, food and financial services are experiencing massive changes. This has led to CRISIS for some and great new opportunities for others. In Chinese culture, this is all the more fascinating.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

In the late 1990s, I was honoured to be one of the first western senior lecturers invited to teach and supervise MBA students in China. It was in Beijing that it became clear that the Chinese ideogram for “crisis” is made up of two characters signifying “opportunity” and “danger.” After several interactions with most of my students who were middle/senior managers, it’s easy to understand why “a crisis is an opportunity for change and growth as well as a danger of regression or stagnation,” This is exactly what every entrepreneur, employee and student should understand about our current economic climate.

This also resonates with the writing of Charles Dickens, stating, “It is the best of times, and the worst of times”. It is the worst of times if one refuses to be re-educated, re-learn and re-brand or seek insights. But it represents the beginning of the greatest era for anyone who renews their minds and understands that DATA is the new “OIL” or “GOLD” while technology is the mining tool.  There are new insights into how data can be mined and existing relationships built. It then exposes anyone to the very best of times as innovation which is a direct product of education, leading to new services and products according to market demands. One quick example is how Zoom, or Teams little known apps before March last year have exploded in user numbers. Another example is a hardly known Artificial Intelligence firm from Silicon Valley called Fireflies.AI now assisting organisations such as Salesforce, SLACK, Microsoft etc. with online meetings and support students at Oxford and London. In the first quarter of 2020, the number of Zoom customers with more than 10 employees increased by 354%!

EMPLOYMENT

In the Holy Bible, Quran, Torah and other religious text, the story is told how Prophet Moses (or Musa according to the Quran) was asked by Almighty God “What is in your hand?”  Moses was very dismissive and replied that it was only a Shepherd’s rod good only for directing sheep. But God wanted to show him that it was more than a rod. It was a multi-function device that would save him from oppression. Today the cellphone has become this generation’s multi-function informatics device which will save us from economic oppression and give us financial freedom.

With only one app, any mobile phone is transformed into a data mining machine that can content create as well as curate and secure a five figure job as a podcaster located five thousand miles away or start a six figure translation, transcription or interpretation business without bricks and mortar.  All the steps are now available via registration on an Eventbrite link

DATA DRIVEN SUCCESS

In starting a new business or buying an old crumbling one, the real question that should be keeping everyone awake today is data. Data on  a) how best can we serve our clients now? b) How best can we assist the last client we served before this turbulence? c) What are their greatest needs TODAY, and can we or our existing partners or staff meet their new needs, demands or aspirations?  Can we become their new suppliers? I spoke at a recent zoom meeting on “Surviving the sad pandemic times” I made it clear to the retailers how they can achieve this new posterity. A Bookshop proprietor asked me how their sector can apply this principle. I did some exercises during the Q/A that proved that his Bookstore could easily transform to a learning centre, education provider and online knowledge base for training.

We must all see our clients as a person or organization using the services on a long-term basis instead of a customer of one transaction. A customer is someone who purchases your services from you while a client is someone that seeks and uses your professional advice.

In the middle of the most terrible storms, there are many opportunities to learn or gain new insights.  The application of these lessons lead to innovation, rebranding, entrepreneurial and employment successes.
