
By Olayiwola Balogun – The member of the House of Representatives, representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal constituency of Osun State in Nigeria, Honourable Bamidele Salam on Tuesday 16 September 2025 officially presented bursaries to some students of tertiary institutions, Nigeria Union of Teachers, schools bags, textbooks, examination preparatory books, learning materials to primary and secondary school students in continuation of the Bamidele Salam Educational Endowment Programme.
His Excellency, Sen. Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, Executive Governor of Osun State was the Special Guest of Honour, at the NYSC Orientation Camp Ede, the venue of the Bursaries Awards which was truly filled with excitement.
Governor Ademola Adeleke in his keynote address congratulated Hon. Bamidele Salam for his commitment to youth development through education.
Governor Adeleke said, “Education is the most powerful investment any society can make, it shapes the future of our children. Our administration in Osun State is committed to supporting education at all levels and we are improving schools across the state”.
Representative Bamidele Salam, in collaboration with the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Kaduna announced the shortlisting of no fewer than 1200 tertiary institution students from Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State for the 2025 bursary award.
The shortlist marks a significant milestone in the implementation of the bursary initiative, which aims to support academically qualified students facing financial challenges in the pursuit of higher education.
The National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Kaduna, is serving as the implementing agency for the programme, ensuring transparency and effective coordination throughout the selection process.
The bursary application, officially launched on June 30, 2025, drew thousands of applicants across universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, with successful candidates meeting stringent eligibility and documentation requirements.
Each chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers received a grant of N5 Million each to roll over through their cooperatives.
Hon. Salam also delivered blocks of 32-classrooms (eight in each of Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Local Governments), which was facilitated through the Universal Basic Education Commission.
He also commissioned a road, which was facilitated through the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency FERMA in Sabo community of Ede North Local Government.
Hon. Salam celebrated the third anniversary of the Àjọje women microcredit scheme with over one thousand women, petty traders, artisans and other categories of business as beneficiaries with more empowerments, testimonials, singing and dancing.
