The reports suggest that Nankabirwa’s family agreed to have her taken off life support. The news leaves friends and well-wishers heartbroken after a hopeful Nankabirwa said last week she had faith she would heal in Jesus’ name. Her mother, who was always by her bedside, had been made strong by her daughter’s resolve and she too had hope Nankabirwa would make it.

Nankabirwa had been flown to Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi on Saturday afternoon for potentially life-saving treatment as thousands of well-wishers responded to a car wash fundraising drive at Serena Hotel Kampala to raise over sh100m for her critical care.

Nankabirwa, who was just 37, was being treated for adrenocortical carcinoma at the Cancer and Heart institute at Mulago hospital before she was taken to Nairobi.
