EU referendum: Once in a lifetime opportunity

On Thursday 23 June, the UK will vote in an historic referendum to decide whether it should remain in or leave the European Union. The Minister of State for the Commonwealth, Rt. Hon. Hugo Swire MP spoke exclusively to African Voice on the benefits of Britain’s membership of the EU, impact on the Commonwealth, economy, and immigration.

Mr. Swire, emphasised that the average among African Diaspora registered to vote in Britain was 61 per cent, as against a national UK average of 79 per cent, Swire urged British Africans and the Commonwealth citizens living in the UK to register before the deadline of June 7.  He said “the outcome of this referendum will affect not only your life, but your loved ones back in Africa for decades to come”.
