Destiny’s Child founder member Kelly Rowland is reported to have married partner Tim Witherspoon in an intimate ceremony in Costa Rica at the weekend.
The couple have stayed tight-lipped up to now but former bandmate Beyoncé and her sister Solange, fresh from the latter’s hotel lift attack on brother-in-law Jay Z, jetted off together to the Central American resort nation just days after last Monday’s altercation. Rowland and Witherspoon are known to have already been in Costa Rica as, it is believed, was Michelle Williams, completing the trio that made up the final iteration of Destiny’s Child.
US Weekly reports that the wedding took place in front of around thirty invited guests.
The couple, who are also manager and client, have been in a long-term relationship only announced publicly by Rowland last December. She revealed that Witherspoon proposed via Skype while she was on an engagement in Bulgaria last year.
No-one is any clearer why Solange Knowles got quite so upset with her sister’s husband last week. Despite CCTV footage revealing that Beyoncé’s younger sibling had to be retrained by a bodyguard for over three minutes while she and the object of her rage were confined in an elevator at New York’s Standard Hotel, there has so far been no comment from any of the involved parties.
The bodyguard had the presence of mind to press the emergency stop button between floors to prevent this Met Gala side-show being revealed to awaiting paparazzi but he evidently failed to account for the quick-witted and, no doubt, substantially compensated hotel employee who allowed the CCTV images to reach TMZ.
As the group left the hotel, the bodyguard ushered Jay Z into a separate car from his wife and sister-in-law. It was probably the least he could do since, from the evidence of the CCTV footage, he also let Solange get in a few blows despite his presence.
