A defendant demonstrated his annoyance at being remanded in custody in a Malawi court on Monday by leaping from the dock and running away.
The drama unfolded at the Nsanje Magistrates’ Court on September 22 after Misheck Kaudzu, 21, had his remand warrant extended by third grade magistrate George Chimombo, who ruled that his trial for stealing five cattle would be adjourned for two days.
“I have been on remand for a long time,” lamented the suspect before making his bid for freedom.
Liberty was short-lived, however, as members of the public joined in with police to hunt the suspect down.
