The British Embassy in Cairo reopened on Tuesday and resumed full public services following more than a week of closure over security concerns.
John Casson, Britain’s ambassador to Egypt, said: “It is great news that, thanks to the vital co-operation of the Egyptian government, we have today restarted full public services at the British embassy in Cairo.”
In a statement posted on its website, the embassy said security matters concerning the embassy’s building have been resolved in co-operation with the Egyptian government.
The building in Cairo suspended services on 7 December and told members of the public not to visit the site. During the closure, visa applications among other services were suspended.
