Angola has reaffirmed its willingness to work on strengthening relations with Cuba.
Minister of State and Chief of the Presidency’s Civil Chamber, Edeltrudes Costa, was speaking to the press at the end of a meeting with a Cuban delegation led by the Vice-president of Council of Ministers, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz.
Praising the meeting, the president’s aide said the event reviewed all aspects of the bilateral cooperation between Angola and Cuba, as well as outlining the necessary guidelines. The official said that it is Angolan government’s intention to keep, develop and consolidate relations.
“There is this political will which is decisive and we will work on it,” he said, adding that both sides are willing to expand cooperation in areas such as transportation, energy and water resources, as well as in construction, without disregarding current cooperation in education and health.
On November 15, Cuba and Angola will mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of full diplomatic relations. At present, over four thousand Cuban workers are offering cooperation services, particularly in the area of healthcare with 1,800 doctors and 1,400 professors in education.
