Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, His Excellency George Adesola Oguntade CFR, CON held a historic meeting in London with one of the reigning monarchs in Epe, Lagos State, Nigeria, H.R.M Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja JP, Kalejaiye 11 Aladeshonyin of Odo Noforija Kingdom accompanied by Olori Taiwo Ogunlaja and some high chiefs.
The retired Justice of the Supreme Court urged the delegation of the royal father to be first and foremost Nigerians before their ethnic nationalities and state affiliations. The highly charged and passionate talk was held in the presence of the senior diplomats and officials of the Nigeria High Commission and attended by the high chiefs and members of the Epe Division Development Union UK.
Ambassador George Adesola Oguntade, the High Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the United Kingdom who currently is the holder of the title, Asiwaju of Epe kingdom which means the man who stands first before anybody when there is problem in the land. The High Commissioner traced his affiliation to Epe dated back to his elementary school days between 1948 and 1952.
He praised the great achievements of the present governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, whose father was his teacher during his formative years in Epe. Ambassador Oguntade said that, Lagos State, especially the Epe axis, has in recent times witnessed tremendous progress and development. The Ambassador also appreciated the good cooperation and support of the monarch from his domain towards the developmental strides in Lagos State.
The royal father, H.R.M Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja JP in his short remarks, thanked the Ambassador for receiving him at the Nigerian premier mission in London. He presented the Ambassador with some symbolic traditional gifts and a plaque from the members of the Epe Division Development Union UK.
