Association of Housing Corporation of Nigeria (AHCN) has called for a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to address the pressing housing challenges across the country.

President of the association, Mr. Eno Obonga, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, an architect,  in Abuja.

Obonga emphasized the importance of collaboration between the association and the ministry in creating sustainable solutions for the nation’s housing deficit.

He pointed out that considering the myriads of challenges in the housing sector, partnerships and increased collaboration are necessary, saying as the association is desirous of participating fully in the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda of the Federal Government.

According to him, housing sector has been saddled with a myriad of challenges that seem insurmountable particularly the low-income group of persons.

This, he said has made the housing deficit gap to continue to widen with its attendant social and economic challenges.

He lauded the minister’s commitment to affordable housing and the significant progress made under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which, he said aimed to provide accessible and affordable homes for Nigerians.

He said the visit was to initimate the readiness of the association to collaborate with the ministry on housing provision.

“We are here to seek your partnership in our efforts to improve housing availability and affordability across the country. Our association is ready to contribute actively to the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda, and we believe that through collaboration, we can achieve remarkable progress,” he said

The AHCN boss also commended the minister’s efforts in reforming the housing sector over the past year, noting that these reforms have led to the commencement of several housing projects across the nation’s six geopolitical zones.

He expressed confidence that the partnership between AHCN and the ministry would further enhance these efforts, particularly in providing housing for low-income groups and addressing the ongoing housing deficit.

The AHCN reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the ministry to ensure the success of housing initiatives under the current administration.

The visit underscored the need for continuous engagement between government bodies and private sector stakeholders in tackling the multifaceted challenges within Nigeria’s housing sector.
