The day began with a visit to Nigeria’s High Commissioner who welcomed the acclaimed stars and thanked them for their hard work in what is now the world’s second largest film industry, ahead of Hollywood.

The night saw glitz and glamour make its way to London’s Greenwich Odeon, where guests were entertained by the laugh-a-minute comedy of Femi Fagade (AKA Omo Baba No.1) whose self-deprecating jokes and stories from the homeland had guests rolling with laughter, as well as the bodacious Queen of Comedy Lepacious Bose, who also received an award on the night.

Guests, including Miss Nigeria UK, representatives of the Nigeria High Commission and other dignitaries were given the opportunity to watch highlights from three films, including the acclaimed Black British film Gone Too Far, and were asked vote for their favourite at the end of the night. The winner received a special award.

The event, which boasted its 18th year, was organised by African Voice newspaper, and was sponsored by Lebara Mobile, who offered free credited SIM cards to the Nollywood guests, allowing them to call home with little trouble. A photo booth, which allowed fans to take pictures in their dazzling attire, was also made available.

Overall, it was memorable night for all in attendance.
