The production, which won best playwright at both the African Film Awards, and the Nigerian Entertainment Awards in 2012, spans 2 continents and 3 generations to tell the story of a British teenager visiting his family in Nigeria. Over the course of the holiday his mother is left with a perplexing decision: to either “leave him in a strict Nigerian boarding school, or return him to the battlefields of London”.

The play, described by MP Diane Abott as “poignant and funny” will be performed throughout next week’s half term holiday, alongside free activities such as interactive storytelling, music, and playmaking. Additonal activities including Yoruba language classes, Gele tying tutorials will also take place. “The programme is aimed at young people, elders, parents, family groups, theatre-lovers…anyone with an interest in African arts and culture”.

The play has also been nominated for the prestigious ‘Offies’ Award (Off West End Theatre Awards) as well as the coveted $100,000 Nigerian Literary Prize.
