
Mrs Ruth Nnadi, reports on the first in the series of capacity building events for leaders. The Palace of Westminster, widely revered as the “Mother of Parliaments,” played host to a series of landmark leadership and legislative training programme this year, bringing together lawmakers and leaders from overseas for an intensive study tours and closed‑door conference.
CAPACITY BUILDING
Godson Azu, Esq., Chairman/CEO of Cater and Merger Consult UK and the C&M Centre for Leadership and Good Governance UK, praised the initiative: “At the start of the tour, the delegation was welcomed by the Sergeant‑at‑Arms, Mr. Ugbana Oyet, who engaged interactively with the lawmakers. The group then took front‑row seats to observe two Select Committee meetings. Afterward, they met Hon. Ms. Florence Eshalomi, MP, the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Nigeria.” And the renowned Chief Clifford Tyover Atile is the visionary Facilitating capacity building for excellent leadership
The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Naanlong Daniel, was commended for his doggedness and visionary leadership in facilitating participation in the programme. He described the initiative as “timely and strategic in strengthening legislative performance and institutional effectiveness.”

CYBER & AI ADVANCES
Professor Imafidon opened the 2nd day of the week-long programme with a keynote address titled “Effective Governance in the Era of AI – What Every Legislator and Leader Should Know About Tech Governance.” Drawing on research from his forthcoming bestseller Tech Fiduciary, he outlined the urgent need for legislators worldwide to understand the implications of artificial intelligence on governance, oversight, and public accountability.
CERTIFICATION
At the conclusion of the lectures, certificates of Completion and Attendance were formally presented to all participants. The ceremony was led by Professor Imafidon, supported by Hon. Oliver Ryan, MP; Professor Mrs. Elewechi Okike; and Professor Kishan Devani, BEM.
The following day after the keynote, Professor Imafidon led participants on a study tour of the UK Supreme Court of Justice. There, he demonstrated the enduring relevance of the Magna Carta and explained how Latin continues to shape the interpretation and implementation of law. The delegation later observed live sessions of Select Committees at the Palace of Westminster, where they witnessed first hand how AI tools such as Fireflies.ai are revolutionizing transcription and translation of parliamentary hearings with unprecedented speed and efficiency.
The study tour also provided opportunities for meaningful engagement with distinguished figures at Parliament, including Chief Ambassador Uzo Owunne and Judge Peter Herbert OBE, former Chair of the Society of Black Lawyers (UK).
Dr. Michael O. Banjoko of Cranfield University, Bedfordshire, and Principal Partner at Period Architecture Limited, co‑facilitated the technology workshop and played a pivotal role in assisting with the Supreme Court tour. His expertise in technology and architecture enriched the delegation’s understanding of how innovation intersects with governance and institutional frameworks.
