USA Rice, Tilda, Setara, Wanis International Foods are some of the major UK distributors of African Caribbean products that joined the Nigerian diaspora community to celebrate the 63rd independence anniversary.
Rice a major staple as well as other food products are regular items to celebrate this special occasion, hence these major distributors are felicitating with Nigerians.
Paul Harrision, Head of Community at Tropical Sun said, “We are happy to celebrate the cultural diversity in the range of food products available as a brand as we celebrate Nigerian independence. It is also good for us to pass over our heritage ingredients to the next generation.”
The Worshipful the Mayor of Southwark, Councillor Michael Situ is one of the UK government functionaries celebrating the Nigerian Independence Day.
On Sunday 1st October 2023, the London Borough of Southwark will launch the Spring Community Hub’s report on Integration and the Nigerian Perspective at the Mayor’s Office in Tooley Street London.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, affirms that Nigerians have wholeheartedly embraced democracy as the best form of governance.
Senator Akume made this statement during a World Press Conference held in Abuja to announce the lineup of activities for Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Anniversary celebrations.
Speaking at the event, Senator Akume stated, “This celebration is particularly significant as Nigeria has maintained an unbroken democratic record since 1999, along with a seamless, successful, and peaceful Presidential Transition program from one government to another. We are grateful to God and Nigerians for making this possible.”
The SGF reiterated his position, stating that “Despite political upheavals and coup attempts in some ECOWAS sub-regions, Nigerians have fully embraced democracy with its core values and practices as the superior form of governance.”
