By Milton Tella – Leading figures among the Black Minorities Ethnic communities in the United Kingdom were honoured with Ambassadorial roles at the virtual event that was held in London on Saturday 19th September 2020.
The event to mark 19 years of African Voice, Britain’s N0.1 African Newspaper had a global appeal with participants from accross the world in attendance.
African Voice @19 Anniversary celebration had Guests Speakers to delivery the three topics in the African Talk Series 2020.
The Keynote speaker, Dele Ogun, Convenor of The Fatherland Group, Historian, Author and Lawyer delivered the topic – The African Voice Must Be Heard in Britain.
Guest Speaker, Prof. Ola Ogunyemi, a scholar of diaspora journalism at the University of Lincoln, UK spoke on the topic African Voice: Present and The Future.
The second Guest Speaker Dan Hobbs, Director, Windrush, Asylum, Immigration and Citizenship Policy (WAIC) at the Home Office spoke on the Windrush Compensation Scheme.
The major highlight of the virtual event was the Unveiling ceremony of the African Voice Newspaper Ambassadors.
The 19th Anniversary celebration of African Voice Newspaper UK which attracted A- list celebrities from the fast growing African film industry, Nollywood was lauded as an outstandingly successful ceremony.
Many took to the chat room of the webnair platform to congratulate African Voice Newspaper for this significant milestone, for telling the African story and raising issues that affects Africans at home and abroad.
In the words of Dr. Ibrahim Bolaji, President of Medical Association Of Nigerians Across Great Britain (MANSAG) “this event has a gathering of people that matter most within the community.”

Prince Mike Abiola, Publisher & Editor in Chief of African Voice Newspaper UK in his remarks promsised that the media organisation will remain focussed on major social issues facing the black community in the UK ranging from police brutality, inequality, lack of equal opportunity, lack of access to health facilities, unemployment, poverty in the inner city and addiction.
The award winning music sensation ADUKE wowed everyone with her beautiful lyrics and melody. While Abass Tijani (DJ Abass) string the event together with popular music. Comedy was by MC Mark and Olufemi Fagade a.k.a Omo Baba.
