Gina Yashere, one of the famous black British comedians, is back performing in the UK after several months of touring around the world! She is touring with her show Ticking Boxes From Bethnal Green to New York after smashing the UK comedy game and going on to become a well known name in the American comedy scene.
She has performed on the biggest stages in the world for comedy such as the several of the American late night shows (with Jay Leno and also with Conan O’Brien). She has also starred in Mock the Week several times and used to be a regular on The Lenny Henry Show. After being referred to as ‘One of the best comics in the world’ by The Guardian and being in The Observer’s ’10 Best Female Comedians’, this will not be a show that you would want to miss out on.
After performing at the Brixton Academy last year, Gina Yashere is back on home turf with her show Ticking Boxes. From Bethnal Green to New York, Gina is a truly global comedian. Whilst in the UK Gina has appeared on TV shows such as Live At The Apollo & Mock The Week. She broke onto the American comedy scene on Last Comic Standing (NBC) and has since appeared on Tonight with Jay Leno and Conan. Gina has performed numerous times at the prestigious Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal and Toronto and can’t wait to play the festival in her home town.
After her comedy debut at the Edinburgh Festival in 1996, Gina has gone on to appear on countless TV shows from The Lenny Henry Show to Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo, Celebrity Fame Academy and, most recently, Don’t Sit in the Front Row and Celebrity Come Dine With Me. She also played a principle role in ITV’s Married Single Other in 2010. Stateside, Gina has guested on American TV shows such as The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, Def Comedy Jam , Comics Unleashed, The Rosie O’ Donnell Show and a regular appearance as a crap psychic on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. She has also had her own 1 hour stand up special airing on Showtime.
Her movie credits include Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Mr In Between, and she has starred on the West-End stage in The Vagina Monologues. This summer, Gina played to a 4000 capacity audience at the British Summertime Festival in Hyde Park and to a 26,000 audience at the Invicitus Games Closing Ceremony at the Olympic Park, sharing the stage with the Foo Fighters, Kaiser Chiefs and Prince Harry
After losing 5 stone, Gina released her critically acclaimed DVD Skinny Bitch in 2009 and her most recent DVD, Laughing to America, which was recorded in 2012 in San Francisco to a sold-out audience, is out now on general release in the UK.
