According to a report from BBC Swahili, ten people have been arrested and a restaurant has been shut down in the southern Nigeria province of Anambra after human heads were found on the premises.
Allegedly, police responded to complaints from locals suspicious of strange goings on at the expensive restaurant. According to one resident: “I’m not surprised at the shocking revelation… Every time I went to the market, I observed strange activities going on in the hotel.
“People who were never cleanly dressed and who looked a bit strange made their way in and out of the hotel, making me very suspicious.”
A local priest baulked at being charged 700 Naira, nearly four times the daily wage of an average labourer to eat at the restaurant. He was told the high cost was because of the cut of meat he had eaten.
“I did not know I had been served human meat, and it was that expensive,” he told BBC Swahili.
Police found the heads still dripping blood in the restaurant’s kitchen, along with an arsenal of weapons, including grenades and AK-47 rifles.
Elsewhere, the story is reported to have come from a “disputed source”, while Nigerian police gave a statement to 360 Nobs saying that the human meat restaurant story was untrue and “downright embarrassing.”
