If elected, APP’s they will fight for 32,000 affordable homes to be built each year (1,000 per London Borough) for Londoners and 24/7 tube services across the whole London underground network by 2020.

In addition, APP will urge the Mayor to take steps to ensure the senior level of the Metropolitan Police more representative of London’s diverse population by 2024: APP is aiming to increase the proportion of women represented on the police force’s senior level to at least 40% and the proportion of minorities at the highest level to at least 25%.

Aaron D’Souza, APP Youth Leader and London Assembly candidate for City & East, said: “APP continues to give talented community leaders, especially young people and minorities, the chance to stand as political candidates at all levels. We want to unleash their potential and tap the diverse talent across London.

“Together we can build One London and provide a better and more prosperous future for everyone in London.”

The following individuals were selected to become council candidates in upcoming by-elections:

Denis Pougin – College Ward (Southwark), Terry Adewale – Newington Ward (Southwark), Abiola Olaore – Glyndon Ward (Greenwich) and Marilyn Moore – Roding Ward (Redbridge)

APP’s council candidates will ensure that all local councils recognise everyone’s contribution and appoint talented, diverse people to top positions.  They have also pledged to take measures to increase the number of homes built at social rent.

Marilyn Moore, APP’s council candidate in Roding Ward, Redbridge said: “I am delighted to be standing for APP as a council candidate. I have been involved in my community and in politics for over 20 years, but no one gave me the chance to be a candidate.

Too many people in London feel hopelessness. We can give them hope. We will fight day and night for a positive future for all residents, not just some and ensure everyone is given the opportunity to reach the top.”
