The celebrity grapevine has Ne-Yo lined up as a possible replacement for LA Reid on American X-Factor or, as the Americans call it, The X-Factor.

Acknowledging the rumours, the three-time Grammy winner said, “I think it would be a great, great thing, I don’t want to talk to much about it, because I don’t want to get in no trouble… conversations have been had, but that’s about it.” He added, “If it happens, I’d be more then willing to do so. I feel like I’ve been around long enough to have some vital information for someone on the way up, definitely.”

Ne-Yo, now 30, served as a guest mentor alongside Nicole Scherzinger, during the past season of UK X-Factor’s judges’ houses round. He also has his own record label, Compound Entertainment, where he’s starting to sign on new talent like R&B/pop newcomer, RaVaughn.

Both writer/producer LA Reid and Britney Spears have left the American version of the show.
