Akinjo said “When I visited the spot to access the level of damage and extent of the fire incident, the situation plunged me into state of perplexity and deeply devastated over the plight of the victims.

As a representative of the people, my responsibility is to bring this unfortunate development to your kind attention and request that The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) through your committee assist the victims in the provision of relief materials in the likes of building materials (cement, roofing sheets, iron rod, wood, etc), fire extinguishing materials, and very importantly, assisting them in sustainable fire education. Meanwhile, Hon. Akinjo has also submitted a petition from the Royal king, Oba Lawrence Omowole, the Amapetu of Mahin to the House of Representatives.

The petition, he said, is seeking the intervention of the House in ensuring that the original status of 250 hectares in Orereara in his constituency is maintained for the construction of New Town in Ilaje local government.
