Nigeria’s High Commissioner recently celebrated accomplished diasporans at the Nigerian Independence Day gala dinner.
The 26 recipients from various industries including media, politics, medicine and charity, were awarded by Dr Dalhatu Tafida for their outstanding contributions to the development of the UK’s Nigerian community and also expressed his regret that he could not award everyone who has contributed to Nigeria’s growing UK community.
Recipients included Lambeth Mayor Councillor Adedemola Aminu, publisher of African Voice Newspaper Mike Abiola, Dr Alistair Soyode BEN TV’s CEO, Jenny Akafor and Nigerian Watch publisher Maryanne Jemide. Several former Mayors were also recognised.
