After a two year stint as the coach of Ghana’s national side, Kwesi Appiah has stepped down through mutual consent with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Appiah successfully led Ghana to qualify for this summer’s FIFA World Cup in Brazil. In a disappointing campaign, the Black Stars failed to win a single game, managing only to draw 2-2 in a thriller with the eventual champions Germany.  Under Appiah’s leadership, Ghana’s disappointing form continued, as they failed to beat Uganda in their opening 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game.  The accumulation of poor results left Appiah with no other choice but to step down as manager of the national team. The GFA has confirmed that a new coach will be named before the next qualifying game against Guinea in October.
