Dear Readers, I heard about an atheist who was a little bit upset because of all the holidays that people of faith celebrated. He said to a friend, “You Christians have Christmas and Easter. And the Jews celebrate their holidays like Passover and Yom Kippur. Even, the Moslems celebrate Eid al-Fitr. But we atheists don’t have recognized holidays. It’s unfair discrimination.” His friend thought about it for a moment and said, “Well, you atheists could celebrate’ April 1’. That could be your holiday. You know, April Fool’s Day! It fits because ‘the fool has said in his heart there is no God.’ And that is, in fact, what the Bible tells us in Psalm 14:1 and Ps. 53:1.”
That’s a heavy statement but it is true, the type the world should hear in this dark days. This week Friday is April 1, 2016. But the question is, “Are you one of the people who say ‘there is no God?’’ Do you genuinely have relationship with Him and know Him personally for real? All creation declares His glory. The Bible confirms that “in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” (Gen. 1:1) God stepped from behind the curtain of nowhere and stood upon the platform of nothing and spoke a world into existence. My friend, God is your creator. He is the creator of all that your hand can touch, your eye can see, your ears can hear, and your nose can smell. He is the Almighty God!
If you see a watch, I hope you will assume there’s a watchmaker. And if you see the precise atomic flux of the universe, I hope that you don’t believe that happened by chance. The evolutionists believe that if you take billions of years and add time plus chance, that you can turn frogs into princes. In school they call that fairy tales. In the laboratory they call it science. My friend, don’t be a fool to believe fairy tales! God spoke your life, including the lives of every living soul into existence. His Word sustains your breath. His Word can silence your breath. He is the God of all! He loves you so much that He includes you in Easter plan.
The Bible says, “God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) God loves you so much that he sent Jesus on a mission of love with a message of love. Christmas is a yearly reminder that God loves you. My friend, God is with you and God is for you! God is for your success in life; He created you for a purpose and He wants you to succeed. It is God, your Creator, who will measure your success in life, and no one else. God sent His Son, Jesus, to the world to save you from your sins (Matt.1:21). Jesus said, I did not come into the world to condemn it, but to save it. This is extremely good news! Jesus is the reason for the Christmas season!
Jesus had a life that the grave could not keep. While He carried your sins to the grave and left them there, Jesus came out of that grave living, risen, and victorious! He is alive! When Jesus rose, you rose with Him. That’s the uniqueness of Christians. Christians are not just nice people, they are new creatures. You need to give your life to Jesus and be a Christian today. We have the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead. We have come out of the grave of the old life. Our old master, the devil, has no more hold on us. The old debt has no more penalty that we have to pay. When Jesus came out of that grave, we came out with Him and we have been raised to walk in newness of life. That’s why we celebrate Easter!
Jesus is the reason for the Easter season! My friend, are you walking around in the grave clothes of your old life? Shed them today! Jesus came to give you New Life! Easter is for everyone. Easter is not about bunnies or brightly coloured eggs? It is about Jesus, and specifically, it is about Jesus crucified and risen again from the dead. I don’t know how you might describe your life this Easter. Maybe you are full of faith and looking forward to joining your family and friends at church and perhaps a special meal later in the day. If everything is going well for you, then praise God for that. For others, it might be a different story. Easter might be a reminder, like Christmas, of someone who is no longer with them. And with every year that passes, they remember and miss that person and Easter becomes a bittersweet day. Does this describe you?
Death can seem so cruel, so harsh, and so final. And that is exactly how the disciples felt when they saw the beaten, bloodied body of their Lord hanging on a Roman cross. Then, in addition to the crucifixion, a Roman soldier took his spear, thrust it into Jesus’ side, and out of it came blood and water. There was no question about it. Christ had died. The disciples thought it was over. They thought death had finished it. But He is the same Lord who had raised people from the dead. He raised the daughter of Jairus and Lazarus.
He said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live” (John 11:25). My friend, it is hard to see through eyes that have been blinded by tears. So the disciples were shocked to find an angel waiting for them with the good news: “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him” (Mark 16:6). They thought He was dead. But He was alive again. Because Jesus has died and has risen again, it means that everyone who believes in Jesus Christ do not have to be afraid of death. The Bible says, “the fact is that Christ has been raised from the dead. He has become the first of a great harvest of those who will be raised to life again” (1 Cor 15:20). Jesus has gone to the grave and He has returned. Death could not hold Him. Even in the grave Jesus is Lord and He has the keys to death and hell (Rev. 1:18).
Everyone who confess with their mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in their heart that God raised Him from the dead…everyone who are saved.” (Rom 10:9) My friend, if you are saved, you are going to see your dead loved ones again. You will be with them. That’s why you must cry to God to save your loved ones -parents, spouse, children, friends and others. Bring them to Christ! Easter is for everyone! Jesus is the resurrection and the life, and if we believe in Him, though we were dead, we shall live. Everything dead in our lives shall live! Remain blessed!
