Las Palmas’ are very excited with this recent transfer, a statement on their official website said: “Las Palmas has reached an agreement with representatives of the player Boateng.” Las Palmas had been working on incorporating this player since early July. It is certainly the most important foreign player who has joined the club in recent decades.”

Boateng is a talented footballer who has moved from team to team throughout his career, from Tottenham Hotspur, Borussia Dortmund to Portsmouth and has played twice at AC Milan. Boateng’s last season at AC Milan wasn’t his greatest, having made only one league start during his second stay at the San Siro after having arrived on a six week deal in January after leaving Bundesliga team Schalke. But his interesting football history still makes him a good transfer for Spanish side.

Boateng’s achievements include being the second player in the history of Serie A to score a hat trick after coming on as a substitute (while with AC Milan) on 23rd October 2011 against Lecce it was also the fastest hat trick in Serie A since David Trezeguet scored a ten-minute hat-trick for Juventus in 2001. He was also part of the Ghana national team that surprised everyone in the 2010 Fifa World Cup and got to the Quarter-Finals of the tournament, becoming one of the handfuls of African teams ever to do so, before being cheated out of the competition by Uruguay national team player Luis Suarez when he blatantly blocked an on target shot to the goal.

Boateng used to play for the German national youth team since he is a German passport holder. During his time here, his long distance goal for the under-19 team in a 2005 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship match against Greece was voted Goal of the Month by viewers of a German Das Erste TV sports show. But in June 2009, Boateng told the German authorities that he was no longer interested in being in the German national team and instead played for the Ghana national team having received a Ghanaian passport on 7th May 2010. This was allowed because he was born in Germany but his farther is a Ghana national. His brother, Jerome Boateng, also plays professional football and was also in the German international youth team but he decided to stay with the German team when he became a senior. The two brothers came head to head for the first time when Ghana beat Germany 1-0 in the 2010 World Cup. It was the first time that two brothers had played on opposite teams at the World Cup.
