Akpatason, under a motion in the House of Representatives titled ‘Deplorable State of Okene-Obehira-Magongo-Lampese-Ibillo-Ekor-Ikiran-Ishua Road’ said that ‘Due to persistent rainfall and consequent erosion, the Okene-Obehira-Magongo-Lampese-Ibillo-Ekor-Ikiran-Ishua road traversing Kogi, Edo and Ondo states has become almost impassable’.

The road which connects the Northern states to South West and South-South of the country is important to the socio-economic development of these areas and the high number of heavy duty vehicles plying the road demands constant maintenance to stem the tide of deterioration.
He further noted that the bad state of the road has caused a number of accidents which has led to loss of lives and has become safe haven for armed robbers to harass and kill motorists.
FERMA  was set up to efficiently administer road maintenance with the objective of keeping all federal roads in good, safe and comfortable condition for the best value in road transport.
